Working With an Architect

Define Your Project Goals

Define your project goals and objectives. What do you want to achieve? Do you have a clear vision for the purpose, function, and look of the space? Think about the size, layout, style, and any specific needs you have.

You can look to see what is permitted at your site. For instance, you can view the zoning here for a few cities in communities that we often work:

Cleveland Heights, Ohio

Shaker Heights, Ohio

Pepper Pike, Ohio

Beachwood, Ohio

Research and Select an Architect

Research local architects and check their portfolios. Find those whose work matches your vision and style. Ask friends, family, or construction professionals for recommendations. Once you have a shortlist, contact a few architects to discuss your project and see if they fit your goals.

Initial Consultation with the Architect

Set up a meeting with your chosen architect(s). Discuss your project goals, ideas, and needs. Be open to their advice, as they can offer helpful insights. This meeting also helps you see if you connect well with them.

Establish a Budget

Work with the architect to establish a realistic budget for your project. They can provide insights into the cost implications of different design choices and materials. It’s important to be transparent about your budget constraints to ensure that the architect can develop a design that aligns with your financial limitations.
